![]() Jesus is powerful enough to bring dead people back to life. When we have a problem, we have to remember to pray and trust that Jesus is powerful enough to help us with it. Jesus prayed and then, He just told Lazarus to come out. ![]() How did Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead? (God gave Him the power.) When Jesus comes back, He will bring everyone who has died back to life, and we will live with Him forever. What did Jesus do for Lazarus? (He brought him back to life.)Īnd Jesus will bring all of us back to life one day too. “Jesus said to them, ‘Take off the grave clothes and let him go.’ “When He had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out!’ The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. I knew that You always hear Me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that You sent Me.’ Then Jesus looked up and said, ‘Father, I thank You that you have heard Me. “Then Jesus said, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?’ Why do you think Jesus wants them to move the rock? Now, Jesus is telling people to roll the rock out of the way of the cave. He died, so they put him in the cave and rolled the rock in front of it. “’But, Lord,’ said Martha, the sister of the dead man, ‘by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.’”īack then, they buried people by putting them in a cave and rolling a big rock in front of the cave. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. “But some of them said, ‘Could not He who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?’ “Then the Jews said, ‘See how He loved him!’ Jesus cares about us and feels sad for us when bad things happen to us. Why did Jesus cry? (He was sad that Lazarus died and felt bad for everyone who was sad about Lazarus dying.) ‘When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw Him, she fell at His feet and said, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there. Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met Him. ‘The Teacher is here,’ she said, ‘and is asking for you.’ When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to Him. “After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “‘Yes, Lord,’ she replied, ‘I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.’ The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. She said the same thing that Martha had said, "If you had been here he would not have died. Martha went to get her sister, Mary, who came and fell at Jesus' feet. She said, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God who was to come into the world." Jesus talked to her about the resurrection and asked her if she believed. She didn't seem to understand that Jesus was talking about a time very soon. Jesus said, "Your brother will rise again." Martha thought he was speaking of the resurrection at the end of time. She said that if Jesus had been there, Lazarus would not have died. He was at the edge of the town, but had not entered it yet. Martha heard that Jesus was coming and she ran out of the house to meet him. When Jesus finally decided to go to Bethany, Lazarus had been dead for four days. He waited and during that time Lazarus died. One day Martha sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick, but He didn't go to them right away.
